“Obviously we want to settle down and we want to spend the rest of our lives together but it’s not that easy. There’s no definite timeline but obviously now, it’s not something that we could, I mean, we couldn’t just drop everything that we’re doing now and just settle down.  We’re just a bit too preoccupied, a bit too busy for it.

“But of course we talk about it, of course it’s something that we see ourselves doing in the near future. Of course we’d want to do it before we get into our late 30s, that’s one thing.  Pero hindi rin naman din super soon kasi Gabbi’s young also. So down the line we’ll figure it out,” he explained.

As he makes his stage debut in the 9 Works Theatrical musical Tick, Tick… Boom! which opens this weekend, Khalil revealed that it was Gabbi who first introduced him to a love for live productions.

“Actually, si Gabbi pa nga yung mas I guess, mas nakakapanuod. She’s actually a very avid supporter of theater and musicals, especially here.

When we started dating, that was one of our things. We would go watch live shows, from gigs to musicals to stage plays. So that was something that I also discovered when we started dating,” he recalled.

Unlike most showbiz couples, Khalil and Gabbi have been known to keep a low profile on their relationship and stay away from intrigues.

The 27-year-old actor said that there is no big secret to reveal about their steady partnership all these years.

“I’m not sure if there is a secret. But I could give as a piece of advice especially to those that are starting, in my case we really made it a point when we started dating we asked each other, ‘What’s the purpose? What are we going to do here? Are we just doing this for a good time or do we do this because we want to do things together for fun or are we actually looking for a life partner?’ And with that decision comes all responsibilities.”

He elaborated, “It’s not a joke, it’s not easy to commit yourself to someone and tell someone that I want to be your life partner.

Ang daming kasama niyan and you have to be up for that. The both of you have to communicate na malinaw na this is what we want and this is what we have to do. And in situations where it would test you, you need to go back to the why.

“That’s speaking from my experience.

Of course there are a lot of ways to approach the relationship. Other people would immediately say communication, which I would immediately agree with. But it’s so much more than that.

Communication is just part of the long list of things that you have to do in order for you to gain the trust of someone.

That’s someone alive that you are asking or you that you are committing your life to hoping to spend the rest of your life with. So it’s not a joke. I guess the secret is it has to be purposeful,” he said.
