Karylle and her husband Yael Yuzon made love look beautiful and sweet as they publicly declared their love for each other through a marriage proposal. Unknown to many, this is the first time that Yael did it!

During the February 26, 2024 episode of the noontime show It’s Showtime, Yael dropped by the studio to surprise Karylle. It began with It’s Showtime co-hosts praising her for her latest musical play, Rama, Hari. Then, Yael entered the stage and joined them in expressing their appreciation for the 42-year-old singer-host.

Si K kasi hindi niya gusto masyadong nasu-surprise siya… gusto niya kasi naka-plan ‘yung day,” Yael first said when he faced Karylle. Confusion was obviously written in Karylle’s face.

The Sponge Cola vocalist took the chance to express how proud he is of his wife and let the world know how passionate Karylle is about her craft in the theater industry.

“Congratulations sa Rama, Hari, Tatlonghari. As always again, great work. Aside from the onstage stuff, lagi mo namang pinu-push ang fading theater and ang art, and so… ganon ka talaga e. You’re very supportive as a person. I’m very proud as a loving husband,” he proclaimed.

Karylle briefly described the difficult process they had to endure to make their play successful. Until her co-host, Vhong Navarro asked Yael about their 10th wedding anniversary. “Pero Yael, ‘di ba 10 years na kayo?” Vhong interrupted as if to cue something to Yael.

“Actually, mag-10 years na kami na kasal. And alam mo ‘yung thing kasi with being kasal na kayo ng 10 years, parang mas na-a-analyze mo ‘yung mga things…” Yael began. At this point, the other It’s Showtime hosts slowly moved away from the center, and a huge heart-shaped flower arrangement appeared at the back of the stage. The audience was also shouting and anticipating what was to come from the couple.

Yael continued, “Through the ups, mostly ups, pero sa mga downs mo actually ma-analyze ‘yung mga things, tapos, kung sigurado ka back then, mas madaling maging sigurado now kasi meron na tayong 10 years together. Pero meron akong hindi nagawa before, so I’m gonna do it now…”

That’s when Yael went down on one knee and opened a yellow ring box in front of Karylle and said, “Will you marry me again?”

Kilig filled the It’s Showtime studio. Love is totally in the air. And the first thing that Karylle did was let out a happy and excited laugh before saying, “Yes!” The two shared a hug and of course, a kiss!

Amid everything, Karylle couldn’t help but utter how confused she was with everything that happened within the past 10 minutes of the show. But afterward, she requested Yael to sing a song for her. “Sing for me… ganito lang kami sa bahay e,” Karylle remarked.

Yael chose to sing “Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay” and Karylle joined him for a quick duet.

Karylle and Yael Yuzon’s love story

It’s Showtime holds a special place in Karylle and Yael’s love story. A decade ago, Karylle announced her engagement to the band singer during the noontime show’s February 8 episode. Trembling and almost crying, Karylle talked about her love for Yael.

“Some three and a half years ago, a new chapter in my life started. The happiest and most exciting one yet… I started as a hurado here in Showtime, and became part of the Showtime family. At kakambal po nito, dumating si Yael sa buhay ko,” Karylle said.

Karylle then recalled the day that they entered their boyfriend-girlfriend era. They were having coffee, after eating some meals, and she made the life-changing decision to become Yael’s girlfriend.

Thanking everyone in the Showtime family, and indicating how much they have helped shape who Karylle is now, she proudly announced the next chapter of her life. “Little by little, my life started to change… Next month, we wed and a new chapter begins,” Karylle declared.

Karylle and Yael tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony on March 21, 2014. The two are one of the celebrity couples who remain child-free, but they remain positive and hopeful about having kids. They are also open about being content with each other’s company, sans a child.

“And there’s also that other side, which is me, that I work first. And I enjoy the time that it’s me and my husband, so different talaga, e. It really depends on the woman,” Karylle once told PEP.ph in a 2019 interview.

This year, they are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary along with a renewal of wedding vows. Congratulations Karylle and Yael!
