Liza Soberano explained on Sunday why she shared an emotional post on social media last week after she accompanied Enrique Gil in visiting the grave of his father.

At the sidelines of the Star Magic’s silver anniversary celebration on “ASAP,” Soberano said witnessing such a personal moment made her realize a lot of things about her onscreen partner and life in general.

“Medyo naging sad ako kasi kinausap niya ‘yung papa niya na as if his papa was just there. Parang na-realize ko kung gaano kabilis ang buhay and how we should appreciate things in life,” she told entertainment site Push.

While having misunderstandings is normal in any relationship, Soberano noted: “Siyempre ako I have a dad and I fight with him a lot.

Normal lang naman ‘yun pero you know ngayon nare-realize ko swerte pala ako kasi may papa ako and si Quen wala na siyang papa.”

The actress joined Gil because the actor wasn’t able to visit his father’s grave on the date of his actual birthday.

“Birthday ng daddy niya May 17. ‘Yung day na iyon, ‘yung mom niya ginigising siya pero hindi makabangon si Quen dahil medyo masama ‘yung pakiramdam niya so ‘yung mom niya pumunta mag-isa,” she narrated.

“The next day, nag-text si Quen. ‘Puwede mo ba akong samahan pumunta sa papa ko?’ Kasi sabi niya, ‘I feel bad I wasn’t able to go.’ So sinamahan ko po siya.”

Gil’s dad died of cancer in 2008.

Gil and Soberano grew closer to each other while working on “Forevermore,” the successful primetime series which propelled their love team to stardom.

Ever since, both have been open about their feelings for one another but have repeatedly stopped short in saying that they are a couple.
